Administrative
Responsibilities of the Deputy Director for Management
- The Deputy Director
for Management (DDM) is the Director of the Office of Management,
and is also the NIH Chief Financial Officer.
- The DDM reports
directly to the NIH Director.
- The DDM also
serves as a principle management official, such as supervising other
management functions, overseeing various functional specialists throughout
the NIH.
- The DDM functions
as a facilitator, communicator, and coordinator between the NIH Director's
Office and the Institute Executive Officers.
- The DDM additionally
functions as a liaison to multiple external personnel, offices, and
agencies. These include Congressional staff; Office of the Assistant
Secretary for Administration and Management, HHS, and Office of Assistant
Secretary for Budget, Technology, and Finance, HHS; the Inspector
General; and the White House Office of Management and Budget.
- Currently, there are eight other NIH offices that report directly to the
DDM. These offices include the Office of Acquisition and Logistics Management, the
Office of Financial Management, the
Office of Human Resources, the
Office of Research Services, the
Office of Strategic Management Planning, the
Office of Management Assessment , the
Office of Budget, and the
Office of Research Facilities Development and Operations.
